The HMS Bounty will be coming home to St. Petersburg for one weekend,
Nov. 10-11. The Bounty, one of the most famous ships in the world, was
docked at the Pier for years as a tourist attraction until it was sold to Ted
Turner in 1986. It is a replica of the ship known for the storied mutiny that
took place in Tahiti in 1789 and was built for the 1962 movie Mutiny on the
Bounty
with Marlon Brando. Since then, the ship has appeared in a number of
feature films and documentaries, including Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man's
Chest with Johnny Depp. During the ship's stay at the Pier in St. Petersburg, it
will be open for tours from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for $10 adults, $5 children, under 5
free. For information call (631) 584-7900 or (561) 792-9260.

For Immediate Release:
 October 26, 2012

November 10th – 11th, the HMS Bounty will be returning to St Petersburg, Florida for one weekend only!

This will be Bounty’s last and final visit to “The Pier”, as the pier is scheduled to be demolished in May of 2013. Plans to rebuild the structure will no longer accommodate a ship of Bounty’s size. The Bounty called St. Petersburg Florida her home for many years, where she remained throughout the mid-1980s and frequently returned for the winter up until 2008-2009.

The HMS Bounty is one of the most famous ships in the world.  Known for the storied mutiny that took place in Tahiti in 1789 on board the British transport vessel,
the current Bounty, a replica, has survived to tell the tale.  Built for the 1962 movie “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Marlon Brando, HMS Bounty sails the country offering dockside tours in which one can learn about the history and details of such sailing vessels from a lost and romanticized time in maritime history.  Since her debut in“Mutiny on the Bounty”, HMS Bounty has appeared in many feature films and documentaries such as the Edinburgh Trader in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest with Johnny Depp.

Bounty will be open for dockside tours during her brief and final stay, November 10th – 11th from 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday.  Tour prices will be $10
per adult, and $5 per child with children under 5 free.  All tour proceeds go to the continued support of the ship.

Come aboard and grasp the ship’s wheel, stand at the very same helm where Marlon Brando, Charlton Heston, Johnny Depp and countless other stars once stood! Venture below deck into the belly of this square rigged vessel, peer into the cabins on a dockside tour and experience this historic tall ship in all her glory!
